Review || Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet.

This is a photograph of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nudeist
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - Nudeist.

I have been looking to introduce more matte lip colours into my collection for a while now and I had seen a few people taking about the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet. When I was in Boots the other day I noticed the shade called Nude-ist. It is kind of a nude shade but is kind of a dirty, almost mauve colour, that is more than a natural lip but is still subtle and easy to wear. It is really simple to apply and has a really good sized, shaped applicator wand.

The formula is soft, velvety and applied to the lips very smoothly. Whilst it looks a little glossy on the applicator, when applied it becomes very matte and soft. I especially love the way it feels on the lips as you can really feel that velvety smooth texture. It also impressed me that, whilst the formula is not hydrating, it doesn't seem to dry my lips out like many lip products do. I suffer from cracked, dry lips and find that it doesn't sit on any dry patches, highlighting them, which I often find lip products do. The Rouge Edition Velvet also stays on the lips really well but is still easy to remove and didn't stain.

The range has 6 different shades all across the red/pink shade line (hence the name) ranging from more natural and wearable like the 'Nude-ist' shade, to really rich and vibrant like the shade 'Hot Pepper'. I really hope that they develop more colours soon as they are so easy to wear and great to throw in your bag. I really do love this product as I think it is a good quality, wearable, product. My favourite thing about it is that it has the ease of a lipgloss but the finish of a lipstick.

Have you tried any of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet range?

Let me know!

    1. Thanks for reading! I agree, one of the main problems I have with lip colours is them drying out my lips more, especially mattes, so it is nice to find a product that doesn't!

  2. This colour is lovely. Always scared of mattes on my dry lips but might give it a go if it worked for you :) xx

    1. I would really recommend it! I have very dry and cracked lips and have never found a lip colour that hasn't made them at least a little worse, this one somehow doesn't! Thanks for reading!

    1. The smell is a little odd, yes! It actually doesn't bother me, I neither like, nor dislike it. I can imagine it as the kind of smell that could bother people though!

  5. Something that really drew me to them is the colours! I especially love this one as I have nothing else quite like it! The smell doesn't bother me at all and I really don't think its bad, but I can see why it could as it is quite an unusual one. Thanks for reading! :)
